Dear Dr. Sears,

I have now been in the Zone for three years, and the Zone has changed my life. The Zone represents a complete change in lifestyle, and in my case this was a very dramatic change. I list some of the differences for me from pre Zone to now. I quote them in annual volume because it sounds more impressive. (See accompanying list on how his eating habits have changed.)
From these dramatic changes in my diet, I expected fat loss and certainly achieved it. I was 21 percent body fat and dreamed of getting to 15 percent. I effortlessly lost a pound of fat a week while maintaining my 165 pounds LBM. Currently I sit at 10 percent body fat and control that level by increasing or decreasing my monounsaturated fat consumption.
In addition to the fat loss, I experienced the following totally unexpected changes.
Dry Eyes. Several years ago I had eye surgery to correct shortsightedness. One unpleasant side effect was that every two or three months I would wake up with terrible pain and very dry eyes in the middle of the night. This has never occurred while in Zone.
Nose Breathing. Pre Zone my nasal passages were often blocked at night forcing me to breathe through my mouth (and snore if drinking). In Zone 99 percent of the time, I can breathe through my nose and do not snore.
Leg cramping. Pre Zone I experienced leg cramps every two to three months. I have never had cramps while in Zone.
Recovery time after running. I have regularly run at the 2 to 2.5-hour level every Saturday for several years. Pre Zone the rest of the day after my run I was tired and lethargic. In Zone, I barely feel any effects of the run and often undertake other exercise activities within hours with no ill effects.
I am totally committed to the Zone lifestyle and have for the past three months started supplementing with fish oil in line with Omega Rx recommendations.
Thank you, Dr. Sears, for making your discoveries available to the world at large. I may yet avoid the diabetes that ruined the quality of life of both my grandmother and father.

Regards,
Graeme
