Triathlete scores personal best
This letter was sent to Dave Schreck, assistant vice president of education for Sears Labs.

Hi, Dave,

As I have now returned from Cancun, (Cancun World Triathlon), I can say absolutely 100 percent that the Zone plan netted me my best ever race result!!!!!!!!!
Prior to the Race, in fact the previous three days, I was struck down with severe stomach cramps. During this time I maintained a big fluid intake of water and balanced food, mainly some plain yogurt and some avocado. To this end, I felt a whole lot better going into the race, knowing that I was balanced, and also taking my OmegaRx fish oil tablets - 10 daily.
On the day of the Race, everything just clicked into place, and I had an awesome race and result, given my poor lead up into it. It was typically hot and humid, 31 degrees and 75 percent humidity, with a tiny breeze.
Following up from the swim, I had a personal best bike time and then went on to record another personal best in the run, given the punishing heat and conditions.
To have achieved this huge and very successful result was the direct result of being in the Zone coupled with your advice and knowledge lately over the fish oil intake discussions. I can categorically say that without the Zone and your help, none of this would have been possible, and I would have still been languishing as a typical high-carbo etc. athlete, going nowhere and wondering why!!!!!.
Overall I came in 18th of 70 competitors, age group 50-54 years, and my times were swim 31:33, bike 01:04:30, run 42:52, total overall 2:18:5.
For me, personally, this was a career best, and I owe a mega ton of thanks to the Zone. I can now have a couple of weeks off and then look forward to building up to our own New Zealand Tri Season, where preparation starts for 2003 World Tri Champs here in New Zealand, December 2003. In closing, Dave, on a personal note, many, many thanks for all your advice, knowledge and skills in getting me to where I have landed. It feels fantastic.
Top regards in sport and life,
Shorty Clark,
